Melissa Grego
Melissa Grego is a Los Angeles-based journalist with expertise in the entertainment business. In November 2012, she was named Editor-in-Chief of Broadcasting & Cable, becoming the first female Editor-in-Chief of B&C in its 81-year history. She previously served as Executive Editor of B&C since 2008, providing day-to-day leadership of the publication’s print, digital and live events initiatives while writing trend-setting news and analysis. Long interested in women-in-business topics, Grego in 2010 created and launched B&C’s “Keynotes & Cocktails: Women of Hollywood,” an off-the-record gathering in L.A. featuring rare and candid discussions with some of the biggest names in television. A New York City version of the event, “Keynotes & Cocktails: Women of New York,” debuted in April 2011.
Grego previously held top leadership positions at The Hollywood Reporter, where she led the integration of the print and digital editorial staffs as Editor of THR.com, and TelevisionWeek, where she launched her interview column Mel’s Diner. Before that, Grego covered TV as a reporter for Variety. Earlier in her career she wrote for young women’s magazines including YM, Jump and All About You.
She has provided expert commentary on such outlets as CNBC, CNN, MSNBC and Fox News Channel. Grego was also a special correspondent for “Extra” and hosted and produced video reports for THR.com and Billboard.com. A frequent public speaker, she’s lectured at UCLA Extension on media and entertainment and moderated numerous panels and Q&A events with TV industry figures around the world.
